Jane, initially skeptical, is startled to discover that what she has just witnessed is real: the crash, near her home, of a spaceship from the 30th century. Inside the ship is a passenger: the astronaut named Helaman, who apparently appears to have come from planet Earth itself, but from a different dimension or time.
While staying at Jane's house, until he repairs his ship, Helaman reports that he needs to find his lost capsules during the fall, these capsules contain microorganisms that can be harmful to 21st century humans.
Jane decides, along with her best friend Eric, to help the 30th century astronaut in the search for the capsules. Both will be fascinated by Helaman's accounts of the future, while something new may blossom in Jane's heart.
